Product Description The Cub Fan: Narrated by Bob Costas, "Cub Fan" is a moving tribute to the most persevering fans in all of sports. Fueled by their never-ending faith in the impossible dream, Chicago Cubs fans talk about their traditions, their icons, and what it's like to be true to a team that has failed them every year since 1908. You'll sing along with legendary Cubs broadcaster Harry Caray... sit in the stands with fan legends Ronnie Woo, the Bleacher Preacher, and the original Bleacher Bums... patrol Waveland Avenue with Wrigley Field's notorious ball hawks... and hear inspired commentary by lifelong Cubs fan George Will, former Cub greats Ron Santo and Andy Pafko, producing legend Arne Harris, award-winning sportswriters Jerome Holtzman and Bill Jauss, and Harry's wife and grandson, Dutchie and Chip Caray. Inside Chicago: Wrigley Field: It's got acres of Kentucky Bluegrass, miles of Boston Ivy, and gallons of Mississippi Mud. But Wrigley Field is 100% Chicago, and it's a national treasure. Narrated by renowned Chicago DJ Terri Hemmert, this Emmy-winning peek at the inner workings of the "friendly confines" gives you an exclusive tour of the people, the history, and the secrets behind America's favorite ballpark. From the clubhouse to the organist to the world-famous scoreboard, you'll see close-hand how Wrigley has defied convention to become a perennial winner with Cub fans everywhere.
Amazon.com, Forever Loyal: A Salute to Cubs Fans and Their Field is a doubleheader of Chicago Cub info. The first segment, "Inside Chicago: Wrigley Field" is a 26-minute exploration of the inner workings of the "friendly confines," from the players' clubhouse to the hand-operated scoreboard to the concession stands. The second segment, "The Cub Fan," tries to dissect what makes these long-suffering stalwarts tick. There are some celebrities in the Bob Costas-hosted 53-minute feature (political pundit George Will, writer-historian Jerome Holtzman, former Cub player Ron Santo), but mostly it's normal fans who explain their affliction (a large part of it is hereditary). A special bonus is "Fandemonium: 2003 in Wrigleyville," an 8-minute compilation of giddy fan interviews as they gather outside the park before the 6th game of the National League Championship Series, when a World Series trip was only nine innings away. Unfortunately, they should have paid heed to a statement in "Inside Chicago: Wrigley Field" (which was produced during the 2002 season): "As fans grow more insistent on becoming part of the action, their interactions with the players has increased." The bizarre fan incident that helped derail the Cubs' 2003 playoff run is the kind of addition to the Cub curse that will make Forever Loyal either a reassuring visit or a painful reminder of what it means to be a Cub fan. Either way, they'll probably find it worth watching, though maybe not more than once. --David Horiuchi

I'm not alone anymore! September 4, 2008 As a long time Cub fan who lives a thousand miles from Chicago I absolutely loved this DVD! For years I've wondered what it would be like to be able to attend home games at Wrigley, and now I have a pretty good idea of what it's like to be one of the lucky souls who get to go to a game on a regular basis! Grabbing a cold Old Style and settling down in my recliner I got to take a short tour of Wrigley, go the broadcasters booth, sit in the bleachers and meet a ton of fellow fans, both in the park and on the street in Wrigleyville! I highly recommend this well put together DVD to any and all Cub fans who like me, have to watch the games on television or listen on the radio.

I love the cubs, I love this DVD. A few parts brought tears to my eyes. This story definately reveals the beauty of the eternal, rain or shine- good times and bad times... cubs fans. Maybe waiting till next year will one day turn into... THIS YEAR.
I Loved it! February 1, 2006 9 out of 15 found this review helpful
This DVD didn't sugarcoat the fact that Cubs fans are going on 100 years of ineptitude. I'm so tired of the media saying the Cubs stink. They do NOT! Have you heard of 1945, 1969, 1977, 1984, 1989, 1998 and 2001? Suckers! We were in the playoffs every one of those years. And for all those White Sox fans out there who are sudddenly elitist because they won one world series in 88 years, you can suck eggs as far as I'm concerned cause the Cubs are the best team ever. I can't prove my point with statistics or fact, but I feel it in my heart. I also enjoy the works of John Tesh.

I bought this DVD for my husband as a surprise. He has been a Cub fan for over sixty years and is a DIE HARD CUB FAN. When the DVD arrived he could not wait to see it. He was very happy with the DVD and has watched it several time.
